Flashback: Highbridge Park and the Little Red Lighthouse

October 18, 2009

Thought I’d do a little flashback of a couple of neighborhood parks before I moved on to posting my most recent park and island photos. These were taken back in January ’08. A group of us went for a photo walk, starting with the Hispanic Society of America, Highbridge Park (our main site choice for that day) ending with Fort Washington Park, home of the Little Red Lighthouse, I didn’t know that the lighthouse was originally erected on Sandy Hook island back in 1880. Many of you may know of the book that saved the lighthouse from being auctioned off. I couldn’t have planned this segue into my newer work better. [update: Ellis Island, Sandy Hook, Fort Totten, and Governor’s Island]
